POST PRODUCTION TOOLS

Here is a list of tools that I use when my films are in post production.

*Full disclosure.  Film Trooper provides Amazon affiliate links on this resource page.  If you choose to purchase any items from this list, please know that Film Trooper will receive a little bitty bit of earnings for sending you to Amazon.  Cool thing is that you will NOT be charged any extra, it's just an affiliate commission for sending peeps like you to Amazon.  Every little bit helps and we thank you 🙂

Apple MacBook Pro ME293LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop with Retina Display (NEWEST VERSION)

I, like most indie filmmakers are Mac users.  This is an all around great computer that you can stick into your backpack and make films on the go!

G-Technology G-DRIVE 4 TB 7200 RPM Professional-Strength External Hard Drive, Silver (0G02537)

The G-Tech hard drives have been reliable hard drives when it comes to editing HD video.  Make sure you have enough memory space for all that HD footage.

lacie rugged

LaCie Rugged Hard Disk Triple 1 TB USB 3.0 Firewire 800 (2x) Portable Hard Drive 301984

Backup.  Backup.  Backup.  I lost a day's work one day editing, so thank goodness I was diligent and made backup copies every day while working on my film.

Final Cut Studio - Old Version

I love the old Final Cut Studio programs.  Final Cut 7 to edit, throw it over to Motion 4 for some quick effects work, then finalize the sound in Soundtrack Pro.  Yes, there are other programs out there that are more up to date, but I remember a time when programs like these didn't exist and I'm just thankful that it all works together!

iLife '11 [OLD VERSION]

I use Garageband from the Apple iLife suite to compose my music for my films and to edit my podcasts.

Red Giant Magic Bullet Suite 2010 V10 - Looks, Frames, Steady, Colorista, Instant HD

I love how simple Red Giant's Magic Bullet makes it to colorize your film.  I'm not a fan of the canned DSLR look.  I prefer my films to have a bit of grit and grain and some kind of painterly color to them.  This plugin is simply amazing.

mobilepre

M-Audio MobilePre

I bring all my professional microphones into my computer with this mobile preamp USB device.

Axiom 25

M-Audio Axiom 25 IGNITE 25-key USB MIDI Keyboard Controller with Trigger Pads

I love this simple keyboard to make simple riffs and music tracks.  It's small enough to fit on my desk and has the drum pads to boot!

ROYALTY FREE MUSIC SITES

I'm not the greatest composer, more of a hack than anything, so there are times when licensing an inexpensive music track works better for me.  Here is a list of a few music sites that I've used in the past.

• Stockmusic.net

• NEO Sounds
